Nice Little Saturday

I don’t do much in the kitchen at La Casa de Kraft. We tried that experiment and all empirical data informs us that I should stay out of it, save a few particular items.

  1. Beer
  2. Cheese
  3. Pancake Balls

Pancake balls, better and more accurately known as ebleskivers, were one of those random things that define me—something weird to normal American standards, thus something I really like. They are filled pancakes—you can fill them with fruit, something savory, just about anything. After not making them for quite some time, I made some this morning for the girls: strawberry, blueberry, and brown sugar cinnamon.

Ebleskivers!
Ebleskivers!

Later on in the day, almost two years after the last “we just got to get out of the house” Saturday that resulted in the same, I took the older girls to the Texas Military Forces Museum at Camp Mabry.

Nothing terribly notable about the day, just a nice little Saturday.

Twins and Ice Cream

From Vanessa’s Facebook wall:

Our pediatrician recommended that we introduce any food that Olivia is allergic to, to the twins before they turn one. There is new research that says early exposure (like before 8 mons) leads to lower rate of food allergies in kids. Anyway, milk and eggs have been easy to give them but nuts have been tough. Today was one of those sneak-ice-cream-before-dinner kind of mom days. The twins had crawled into the kitchen and were judging me as I furtively ate some Butter Pecan. Then I thought, hey, nuts and milk! So the twins ate ice cream for the first time today. They cried when I put it away. And, thus, they are for sure my children.
